Here are no less than 44 sermons on the first 7 chapters of Acts. They were preached in Geneva between 1549 – 1551. Calvin used to preach 10 times a fortnight. He was not flamboyant, and did not aim at eloquence. Plain speaking and faithfulness to the text of scripture are his noted attributes. Nor was he a dry theologian. He had no use for theology which was not accompanied by practical godliness. So many issues are covered in these chapters, and Calvin does not flinch: spiritual gifts, deacons, tribulation etc etc
