The life and ministry of ten of the ‘founding fathers’ of the Free Church of Scotland. They were key figures in the Disruption era and late 19th Century Free Church movement. Thomas Chalmers, William Cunningham, Robert S Candlish, Hugh Miller, Thomas Guthrie, James Begg, Andrew Bonar, John Kennedy, John Duncan and Alexander Duff are each included with a biographical sketch emphasising why they mattered in their time and what they have to say and teach us in the 21st Century. While they shared a commitment to the Confession of Faith and reformed theology, this was expressed in unique and individual ways by each of these men. Hence both unity and diversity is on view.
